Easter 2011

The scene was set. One of the driest Aprils on record, the moon had conspired to make Easter the latest it can be, May day was imminent, the Royal family had promised to put on some entertainment, Hole Park was holding it's annual Bluebell festival and West Kent DA had arranged a holiday meet there.

Wow what a meet! 114 units from throughout the country meet in some splendid weather, and totaled a remarkable 533 unit nights.

The first weekend, hot cross buns were enjoyed by everyone, and the Easter Bunny paid us a visit, leaving everyone an egg on Easter morning, however they did have to go and find them. Our Vice Chairman Dennis, arranged a very enjoyable ramble.

Mid week Tony & Tracy made a very quick Fish & Chip run, (Hawkhurst - Rolvenden 11.5 minutes!), and by the weekend, our friends from the Motor Caravan Section joined us.

Friday the 29th dawned ,the party tent had been decorated, and the telly had been set up. In London people lined The Mall, and in Rolvenden, people started to arrive at the party tent, ladies in there best hats, to watch the long awaited Royal wedding, and just after Kate whispered I do, the men served the ladies with tea and coffee.

The afternoon saw a tea party, and in the evening many members met up in the party tent to do just that, Party and play games! (I am sorry Roger, but no way can I be convinced that a pencil is a stegosaurus).

The weekend concluded with Tony and Tracy putting on a music quiz (don't worry the next one will be easier), Morris dancers on May Day at Hole Park House, and the best part of 100 people in the party tent on Sunday night for a good old British game of bingo.

Many thanks to everyone who joined us, and to all who worked effortlessly to make the meet a success. Very special thanks have to go out to Doreen and John who stewarded the site exemplarily as usual.

The was one other incident of course, and that was John's introduction to technology, Bluetooth to be precise, but that is a story for another day!...
