2011 AGM
The 2011 Annual General Meeting was held at the Addington Village Hall on 26th February. A total of 45 members attended, including special guests from the South Eastern Region including; current Chairman Paul Westripp, with wife Helen; Vice Chairman Trevor Wilson, with his wife Pauline, and former Chairmen Trevor Goodwin and John Woolgar, along with wives Pearl and Dee respectively (although the current Chairman and Vice Chairman should not really count as guests as the are both West Kent members, and therefore it was their own AGM).
Our Chairman, Tony Topley, made a report to the attended members and paid a special thank you to all members who donated their time to act as Stewards over the past year. Our Treasurer Ray Scawn made his first report to the members, and appreciation was made to both him, and our Auditor Avril Ford, for embracing the new computerised accounting system. The election of Committee members took place, and new members Samantha Hills, Trevor & Pauline Wilson were elected, along with existing members Tracy Topley, Pat & Dennis Killick, David Hills, John Sparrow, Ray Scawn and Tony Topley.
The Chairman announced that the sitting Secretary, Tracy Topley, was standing down from office due to family commitments, and after many years of extraordinary service, George Prior had expressed a desire to finally take things easy. A vote of thanks was proposed for both members, and was carried unanimously. The Chairman formerly closed the AGM, and following a brief interlude, during which members had a coffee break whilst the new committee met to elect officers, he then declared an open forum.
After the Chairman announced the new Committee Officers to the assembly, Paul Westripp addressed the forum. He thanked members for attending, and brought attention to the forthcoming election of Regional Councilors, and also advised members that anyone wishing to vote in National Council elections, must now register their interest before voting. Trevor Wilson then addressed the floor and gave details of the 63rd SER AGM and Anniversary meet to be held at The Hop Farm in June, and Pearl Goodwin, London DA Regional Rep, announced details of their 90th Anniversary meet to be held at Nightingale Farm in Yalding in September.
Serious concerns were raised from the floor, that the Club had organised sites for the 2012 Olympics in the Gravesham area, without any consultation with either the local DA or Region. They were advised that SER had written, expressing their displeasure, to the Club, and that they would be advised of any developments.
Tony Topley announced the results of last season's most camped members award, and presented a certificate and a bottle of wine to winners Pat & Dennis Killick, for a total of 14 meets attended. He also announced the winning nomination for this years FOL to be held at Folly Foot Farm, Smarden in September (see Calendar). The winning entry was 'Pub Signs'
The evening concluded with many members staying on or a fish and chip supper, laid on by the DA
